Winkler, a Texas A&M College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Animal Science student, immediately embraced her teammate before realizing that she was not only the 2025 Bridles & Brains competition MVP but also the first woman to win this award. “Cowboys have and always will be a critical part of the industry,” Winkler said. “But there are so many women coming into the industry who are worthy, handy and making a huge difference. TEXAS A&M RANCH HORSE TEAM FEATURED ON ESPN COLLEGE GAMEDAY

During the 2024-2025 school year, the Texas A&M Ranch Horse Team had the once in a lifetime opportunity to be featured on ESPN College GameDay while they were airing from the TAMU campus in preparation for the game against Norte Dame. It was an enriching experience for the team and left the team with some fun memories! A huge thank you to the wonderful and talented ESPN filming crew. Click the photo above to check it out!
TAMU REYETTE OLENA EARNS THE SHTX LEGACY HORSE AWARD

TAMU Reyette Olena—a small sorrel mare—was born, raised, and trained at Texas A&M University and has made a massive impact on students during her 16 years in the equine program. Throughout her career as a school show horse, Reyette carried five members of the Texas A&M Ranch Horse Team, a competitive team in the Department of Animal Science, to victory at Stock Horse of Texas, SHTX, shows, qualifying her for the SHTX Legacy Horse Award. GRACE CHAMBERS AND TAMU PEPPY REY MARSALI: SHTX WORLD SHOW CLEAN SWEEP

Grace Chambers, Granbury, is a senior marketing and advertising strategy major with an equine certificate and has been on the ranch horse team for three years. She was one of the few who decided to compete in the regular division as an individual and took the Texas A&M bred, raised and trained TAMU Peppy Rey Marsali to the winner's circle at the world show. Throughout 2023, Grace and Marsali competed at eight shows across the state of Texas, placing top-10 all around at each show, crowned the Novice SHTX World Show Champion and winning the year around, earning her a custom-built Martin saddle. Firsts are always memorable. Reading a hunter’s account of their first event, or watching a reiner ride a show jumper gives you a sense of anticipation. Will they be successful? Will they enjoy their experience? Watching others experience eventing for the first time renews my passion for the sport. So when I wound up in grad school and became close friends with a rider whose equine sport of choice is Reined Cow Horse, I decided to flip the script.
