The 2022 Hughes Trailer National Ranch & Stock Horse Show is officially in the books. There were 115 riders from 7 different states making up 14 different teams. We came home 4th in Division 1 with many individual successes as well.

SPRING COMPETITION UPDATE
February-March
Brains and Bridle Results:
They came home with a 2nd Place Media Interview and 4th Place Public Speech as well as a few top ten placings in the performance classes. Nicole Jones, Saryn Paulsen, Haley Winkler, and Reagan Loxton prepared for many weeks leading up to this contest. Not only did it prove those with skills used in the professional world, but skills needed to be effective on the ranch. Thank you, Texas Equine, for sponsoring this trip!

NRCHA Collegiate Invitational Results:
A week ago, Sara Saxe, Emma Thrasher and Krisondra McMellian got home from a successful weekend in Fort Worth. Emma ended up 1st Non Pro Cow work, 4th place Non Pro overall. Sara Saxe placed 3rd in the Limited with a 2nd Ltd. Reining and 3rd Ltd. Cow work, and 3rd overall. Krisondra had her first official show on her new ride, Rosebud! Cavender’s proudly sponsored this trip!

SHTX WORLD SHOW RESULTS

The Texas A&M Ranch Horse Team packed up this past Tuesday and headed to the SHTX World Show in Abilene, Texas. Not only was this their first show away from home base with the new 2021-2022 team, but it was an all-week endeavor. The Aggies stuck with it and came up with a 4th place Title. But with the way Aggies are… the team is not satisfied and will continue their hard work over the winter break in hopes to come back in the spring more competitive than ever.

TAKING COLLEGIATE RESERVE IN BRYAN

The Texas A&M Ranch Horse Team kicked off their season at the Bryan Stock Horse of Texas Show at the Expo Center this last weekend. They just missed the bringing the title home by a few points. Some new names appeared on their roster and made a big impact on increasing the team’s competitiveness.

· Emma Thrasher: 2nd place boxing, 3rd place pleasure, 9th all around

Firsts are always memorable. Reading a hunter’s account of their first event, or watching a reiner ride a show jumper gives you a sense of anticipation. Will they be successful? Will they enjoy their experience? Watching others experience eventing for the first time renews my passion for the sport. So when I wound up in grad school and became close friends with a rider whose equine sport of choice is Reined Cow Horse, I decided to flip the script.
